About Us

Our Excellent Automobile Parts and Repair Services in Oregon City, OR

Clackamas Auto Parts was founded in 1934 by brothers-in-law William G Trappe and Julius Brandes. The company operated out of a rented section of a furniture store on Main Street in Oregon City, Oregon. William and Julius, who ran the machine shop, were the only employees for the first few years, but by the late 1930s, two additional parts countermen were hired as the company grew.

In 1944, construction started on a new building one block south on Main Street, and the company was in its new location by the spring of 1945. The location is still the home of our auto parts store today.

William guided the growth and operations of the company until he died in 1963. At this point, ownership and operations of the company were taken over by William's wife, Hilda Trappe, his sons Norm and Bill, and long-time employee Bud Hornshuh. Hilda remained very active in the company until 1989 when she retired from her bookkeeping duties at the age of 90. By the early 1990s, Norm, Bill, and Bud had all retired from their active daily duties, and the company was ready for a third generation of ownership.

In 1991, Art Kirchhofer and Dan Trappe were brought in as partners and now run the business's daily operations.
